Come on, Springtime!

Art Hill - February 2013

OK, the snow is beautiful, but we hope that Spring is coming soon!

And, St. Louisians' sure love sledding on the snow...as these folks at Art Hill (in front of the Saint Louis Art Museum) would certainly agree!

By the way, if you're a Facebooker, don't forget to search on "Gannondale" on FB and ask to join the Gannondale Neighborhood Facebook Group.

Cornell Pillars Repaired (and Relit!)

A big "thank you" to the Gannondale neighborhood for chipping in and supporting the repair, tuck pointing and water-proofing of the pillars at the intersection of Hanley and Cornell. The lamps on both pillars were also updated to greener (and more pleasant) LED lightiny.

This is a great neighborhood. We hope that our iconic pillars (they are used on the masthead of our neighborhood newsletter, The Pillar Post) last another 90 years!

Gannondale Pillars Are Glowing!

Both of the pillar lights at Hanley Road and Cornell Avenue are now lit with state-of-the-art, energy efficient LED technology (not too bright, just right!). The north pillar has also been tuck pointed.

A big "thank you" to the Gannondale neighbors who supported the Gannondale Pillar Repair Fund with their generous donations.

As you take your evening walk, give yourself a nice pat on the back. Without your help, these important Gannondale landmarks would not be glowing so brightly and beautifully!

Barred Owl Heard on Cornell

Some Gannondale folks have heard a Barred Owl calling on Cornell Avenue!

According to one neighbor, "the Barred Owl in Missouri usually does a very sparse, rhythmic "who-cooks-for you" call but I think its call outside MO varies, as this recording from Cornell University shows.

Mating season?
